Raistlin wasn't sure how he felt about the changes that Dalamar had made in the Tower of High Sorcery, but it was certainly interesting, and noisy, as apprentices came and went. Mostly he didn't notice them, as he hadn't until he had picked his own. But one stood out. Raistlin had watched him most of the day as he had waited for more information. He wore the red robes and seemed to have the bearing of someone who was used to getting his way, who wasn't used to having to do anything for himself. There was almost a sense of entitlement that surrounded this boy. He wasn't sure why the Dark Elf would have taken such an apprentice. This one would certainly mean trouble for him later. Raistlin had to admit he was curious. He doubted he would have time to learn more while he was here, but he managed a name out of one of the others, Draco Malfoy. From a rich, powerful family. They had been wizards for several generations back and believed in only marrying those that shared a talent for the magic.
Later, he managed to ask Dalamar why he had chosen the young man. "He is powerful, and I felt it would be in my best interest to be part of his training." Raistlin smiled as he watched the Dark Elf work. "You mean having his family as friends wouldn't hurt." It wasn't a bad move, and he had to admit a grudging respect for his apprentice. He only wondered if Draco would be so easily used after all. If Dalamar had bitten off more than he could chew, though, it would be quite entertaining to see the outcome.
