I think I just saw the most ridiculous television show ever on the ABC Family Channel while I was working out at the gym. Mind you, the sound was even off and I knew that the show was wack.
The show is called "Kyle XY", and from what I could tell it was another story about some amazingly hot alien-like guy who comes into this community he has to blend in with the help of normal people. Naturally he's taken in by a family and the kids try to help him navigate this new world he's in. I swear, haven't we all seen at least 5 shows just like this? Superman, obviously, comes to mind... and thus, Smallville. Then there's one that I remember well but one that no one else is likely to remember, a Disney Channel show from the mid/late 90s called "The Secret World of Allen Strange" (or something like that).
Still, this isn't the most ridiculous part of the premise. The real doozey is that the main character (Kyle-- duh!) has a foster sister who he is secretly in love with. In the episode I saw, this sister confronts Kyle about the feelings that she suspects that he has for her. Kyle's interior monologue reveals that he IS in love with his pseudo-sis, but is keeping it a secret because he know she'd be happier with the guy she's seeing..
.. did I mention these kids are in HIGH SCHOOL!?
Of course she's better of with this guy... since they're totally going to get married and live happily ever after!
Then there's this: the guy who plays Kyle on the show looks like this:
Like we're supposed to believe that any sane girl would pass up a chance to jump a guy who looks like this?! Unbelievable! I don't care what your "type" is... this guy is *everyone's* type!
Oh, and the actor who plays Kyle? He's 25 years old. He's older than ME, and he's playing a high schooler. He even looks like a 25 year old... IMDB him and see what I mean.
