Cheesy old musicals ROCK.

Gah. Has anyone ever seen the musical "Cinderella," from 1965? Oh god. This weekend I watched it because I have it on VHS. (Old. Oh gods, OLD.) I used to watch it when I was a kid, and now I find it so cheesy. It was wicked popular during it's time, probably because Lesley Ann Warren was Cinderella. But seriously - the thing is awful. I found all the clips online though. Here's the one from the song "Impossible," when Cinderella's fairy god mother transforms her. Note the Beehive hairdo once she gets her pretty dress. Seriously - how sixties can you get? Bwahaha.

Yeah. You know what's sad? While it's so fuckin' cheesy, it's one of those damn movies you can't tear yourself away from. In fact, maybe it's because it's cheesy that people nowadays feel that way. Or maybe it's just because people will always like musicals throughout time. Or maybe it's Lesley. Jesus, is she gorgeous. I'd kill to have a body like hers. Wouldn't want her damn squeaky voice though.

Here's my favorite number though (and it's very short - just short of two minutes). It's the two stepsisters lamenting how the prince is with Cinderella and not them. Awesome song. :P

And just so you can see what the prince looks like:

I also watched the old musical "Sleeping Beauty" from 1987. It's much better, and I gotta say it's a favorite. Guess it wasn't too popular, because I can't find any video clips of it. Damn. It's so amazing, though. "Burn all the spindles!" It's actually wicked damn different from the cartoon Disney version. Pretty sure the spindle thing is the only common tie, hahaha. I like it way better, though. You all should see it with me sometime. Where are my friends that would like old musicals?
