I bought Alex a new bed. I spent the weekend (while he was at his dad's) picking it out, finding a mattress, assembling the bed (omfg, what a pain) and accompanying headboard/bookshelf, etc. It's super and he loves it.

Anyway, I needed to pick up a vinyl mattress cover because, even though he's been using the bathroom on his own for ages, he's still young. And I'd rather not have to purchase another mattress... ever. So yesterday evening before he got home, I ran down to Pamida to grab one of those and a pack of batteries. Two things. TWO THINGS.

As I was approaching the only open register with my two things, this crazy old lady came barreling up from behind me and rushed the counter. She looked at me kind of smugly while she unloaded her cart. Ooh, burn. You totally win. So I rolled my eyes and got over it because, really, who gives a shit?

I DO. YES, I DO. I wouldn't have, not really, but as the cashier was ringing up her unflattering jeans and B&J wine coolers, this crazy old bat was digging through ziplocs full of CHANGE. And I thought, you know, maybe she's like me and she likes having exact change. So she'll get her total and then she'll dig in her gigantic purse for the cash. Uhh... no. The cashier announced her total (nearly $75) and, without saying anything, the crazy lady started pushing piles of quarters across the counter. The cashier looked at me like ":O!" and I was like "???" and there was much eye rolling because, seriously... who does that?

Anyway, she called for another cashier to ring me up, so it wasn't all that big a deal, but still... who does that?
