So... wow... it's been 10 months since I've posted here... odly about the same thing... but on another continent. I'm sorry I didn't get to finish my thoughts and perceptions on the Stockholm show... so I might just write some of them down now while I have them in my head.
When we finally did get into the Globen, we were ushered upstairs to partake in a dinner that was being put on for perhaps contest winners, and VIP pass holders. This was the first dinner where I can say that it was "interesting".... The room was hurridly set up with high tables covered with white table cloths. There was very little ambient light. Some sconces on the walls and twinkle lights and candles on the tables. Everyone was standing around tables and was drinking the wine and beer that staff were weaving around the room, pouring into our glasses. None of the food was out yet, so we all waited, and waited.... Shannon and I of course chatted to ourselves. English was the minority language in this room. Shannon went to get drinks or something, and I was standing at a table by myself, when I feel a tap on my shoulder and a lady ask me "Are you Patsy?". I agree and turn to find that the lady that I had been emailing with and corresponding with for the past few months was standing in front of me. Her name escapes me, but our meeting was very brief. She said something pleasant about how it was nice to finally put a face to the name and then asked me how I was enjoying Sweden. Of course I gave her the pleasant responses back, and said how it was nice to be there. Just as quickly as she showed up, she said something about enjoying the rest of the evening, and left. Shannon came back shortly there after and we waited around for food. The 2 things that stick out in my mind from this experience was a: there was very little light in the room... (must be a mood thing) but not very condusive to those of us who are visually impaired.... and b: There were no chairs!?! Everyone was standing around their tables drinking, and eating and what not. It was cool though that the dinner music was Roxette. We did manage to wrangle up a chair in which Shannon and I took turns using. He went, got his food at the buffet, sat and ate, and then I had my turn. I don't even remember what I ate... I have a menu of what was being served, but it must not have been that memorable. After said dinner, we left the dark hall of wherever and asked if we could go to our seats... we could, so we did, and there's where we pretty much stayed for the rest of the evening.
The opening band (name starting with a "V") whom I can't remember, made pleasant noises, which I enjoyed, and Shannon happily dozed through. I still bug him to this day... even at the New York show, I asked him if he wanted a pillow for the opening act. :) When the lights finally came down and the first "yeah, yeah yeah!" of DFS was sung, it was a magical evening! I tried to tape as much as I could on the iPhone and got about a half hour worth of video of songs.
I was looking forward to seeing Roxette on their home turf. The band was great, Per was great, and Marie was also awesome. Even durring the times when she seemed to forget the lyrics to some songs... it didn't matter. Even if she stumbled or was shaky, it also didn't matter, the feeling of love and support in the room for her was something pretty special and even us "international fans" got a shout out from Per! I wonder if he saw me waving my flag. If I could see him, he must've been able to see me... so, I say yes. :)
After the lights came up, Thomas came over to us and quickly said hello before he was to go back stage. He offered to take my flag to sign with him, but sadly, there were no autographs to be done that night. Everyone showed up at the after party except Marie. Hearing about it second hand still is pretty cool. Thomas did do something nice for me later on and send me some stuff in the mail... some signed postcards and cd singles and a rox pin (which was so small, I didn't even see it in the package!) I just heard a clink on the floor and found it... so more coolness. We did meet up with Thomas later on after the show and went out to dinner at an American style steakhouse where we indeed had nice conversation and the food and company were excellent! :) More on Sweden a little later.... I think what I wanna do is break for this and jot down some thoughts about this latest joyride that happened last week. :)
