Been awhile since I've rotated my icons... and it's been even longer since I've changed my LJ-header! o_O Anyways, in lieu with my procrastination, here comes my blessings!
01 My essays/projects for SDEP have been, surprisingly, scoring high!
I've never been one to participate much in class - vocally that is. Unless I get riled up about something, I'm not much of a speaker. I'm more of the proverbial sponge, soaking up information and listening to discussions. So I'm glad that my papers have been coming back to me with some pretty decent scores; at least my professors won't think I'm incompetent since I rarely speak my mind in class. xP
02 Some of the kids at the high school I'm 'working' at seem to actually like me.
That's a major WHEW right there! Do you know how terrible it'd be if I have to spend an entire year in classrooms with students who don't like me?! Ooh, I'm sure there are quite a few who could care less that I'm around, but I've been able to form relationships with some of them, and that's awesome, IMO. Keeps me motivated to stick with teaching, I think.
03 I've recently been on a shopping spree...
And the best part is, I've hardly spent any money! o_O Always love it when I can get a lot for little. *snicker*
So
faerionette have mentioned this kick-ass book that I'm gonna give a shout out to here on my own LJ; THE CHILD THIEF by Brom. It's dark, it's violent, it's disturbing, it's love!! Definitely not a book for the squeamish but if anybody likes dark fantasy stories, this is the book to read! It's basically a re-creation of the Peter Pan story and Brom does such a great job! I'm only like 50 pages out of 500 -- I wish I had more time to read! Anyways, thanks
faerionette for making me aware of this book.
While I'm on the topic of books, I recently finished two other books prior to THE CHILD THIEF -- DRAGON SWORD AND WIND CHILD and THE ALCHEMYST... I would recommend both. I would also recommend THE TWELVE KINGDOMS too. I'll probably be reading the 3rd volume for that once I finish TCT... and then get the books that succeed TA. *and breathe!*
I should probably be reading my text books instead... *snicker*
Oh noes! I just received and email from BORDERS bookstores, they've having a wee sale!
