I wonder...

If there's ever been a research study done on media and [real-life] violence... *cross-culturally.* I'm just getting a little sick of people saying "violence in games and movies create killers in children," etc etc. But if you look at Japan, which is also a highly-developed country, they've got significantly lower rates of violent crimes and rape.... HOWEVER, Japan is like a gamer's heaven. xD

Japan has like a zillion times more video games than we do in N. America, they've got a zillion hentai anime and games - some of which are pretty depraved. O_o Yet, despite their supposedly rising crime rates then again, crime seems to be going up everywhere especially w. the economy going down the shitter, their rates are significantly lower. Now... why is that?

I'm not saying that violent games/movies have no effect whatsoever, nor am I saying that Japan is the perfect country... but really, how can so many people just point their fingers at games and movies? *_* Hell, I'm a gamer... I love action movies - and I'm perfectly sane. *snort* Yes, I am just one person -- but isn't that a good indication, or piece of supporting evidence, that games don't determine your temperamental?

Just my two quick cents...

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to blow up some zombies. :P

games, movies, rant
