Fictionalism

I was searching around for blogspot addresses the other day and tried out 'fictionalism' as a prefix, happening upon http://fictionalism.blogspot.com/ . I really like the little storylets. Especially appreciated was the little jab at the 'authentic coffeeshop' vibe found on the "Wood Floors, Exposed Brick" (feb 2) entry:

The coffee shop was typical, sporting that contrived neo-hippy vibe that Starbucks made famous. Wood floors. Exposed brick. For authenticity, shelves of musty old hardcovers, jackets missing, did their best to provide a vaguely literary ambience.

And then this little peice of dialogue, complete with fifteenth-time-reheated philosophizing :

"Here in the West," he went on, "we think of ourselves as corks floating in a stream. But we're not corks... no! We are the stream! There is no separating us from The Whole! We are The Whole!" He waved his mug of coffee for emphasis, and spoke too loudly. But the coffee was a mere prop, and since he'd not yet taken even one sip, some spattered onto the table.

Good stuff. I hope whoever it is keeps writing.
