"Daniel McGarrett-Williams," he absently corrects as he sips at his coffee, standing on the edge of the porch and watching her come. He smirks as he takes in the sight of her, waggling his brows slightly. "Am I gonna have to start calling you Mommy now that the kid can hear everything?"

"Not if you like your balls firmly in place," she says with a sweet smile, stepping up onto the porch and making gimme hands at the coffee. "Wanna hear some news?"

"Hell, no, you're not getting my coffee, you're pregnant," Danny retorts, gulping the remainder down in one fell swoop while shooting a glare her way. "And why not? You're gonna be a mom, just like I'm gonna be married again soon enough. Two weeks, now."

"I can have like, a cup," she scoffs, definitely not telling him she totally drinks it every day. "Yeah, but I'm not you're mommy. Unless you're into some kinky shit I'm not realizing here."

"Yeah, but this is mine and I'm gonna need it to cope with the fact that I've got Steve stressing out about the election he didn't even know he wanted to run in until I nominated him," Danny mutters grumpily, both hands protectively around it. "And no, no, my relationship with my mother is incredibly healthy, thank you."

"So the real question is who is stressing out more? Steve, or you stressing out about Steve?" she snorts, shifting her weight.

"Now, do you want to hear my news, or what?"

"I'm focused on the wedding, Steve is stressing about elections and I'm only slightly worried that he's gonna go all Victor Hesse about the situation," Danny says with a genuinely worried little furrow in his forehead. "But yes, please, by all means, tell me your news."

Rachel doesn't roll her eyes, but it's a close thing. She knows he's actually worried. She's being, like, grown up about it.

"So, it looks like you're going to need to start knitting some blue baby clothes."

Danny brightens immediately, setting his coffee mug to the table that Steve's put out before he practically mauls her with a hug, pressing a fond kiss to her cheek. "No way, huh? A baby boy Givens," he says proudly. "I'm gonna get to spoil a baby boy rotten."

Rachel grins against his neck, determined not to give him the satisfaction of seeing her smile. "Yeah, yeah," she snorts, hugging hum back. "Raylan is pretty excited. It's a good thing."

"Yeah, it is," Danny agrees, feeling kind of breathless at the good news. He eases back with a stunned look on his face, eyes going wider. "I'm gonna be Uncle Danny to a little baby boy," he says, giddy, before the epiphany sinks in. "Shit, Rach, do not let your child around Steve during the formative years."

"Danny, he's got me as a mom and Raylan as a dad," she points out, schooling her face into a smirk and not a smile. "Steve's the least of our worries. Besides, he'll have your mothering influence to balance it all out."

"Why, is all I want to know, why am I gonna be the one who gives this kid all the tender talks?" he asks. "Why do I have that feeling?" And the worst part is that he'll do it happily because he just wants to be a Dad again.

"Because Raylan, Steve and I are all emotionally stunted," she answers, daring him to say otherwise. "Isn't it comforting to know how much you're needed, though? Come on."

[haolehothead]

"It's because you all needed more hugs as children," he says with a superior look on his face. "Steve says they exist, but I swear to god, I swear on my hair, I swear, photoshop."

"Yeah, that's actually kind of exactly it," she says, not quite making eye contact before shrugging it off. "But, you know. Fuck it. We'll all hug the baby and stop the cycle of bullshit parents."
