I can't believe second semester is half over. I'm almost done with my first year of college! But so far, this semester is really fun. I've been super busy with all of my classes and working backstage on one of the main stage productions, but I love all of my classes and so far I'm doing really well... 4.0 last semester! Let's see if I can hold onto it. ANDDDD I love my new roommate... we are so alike and get along really well. We're definitely going to room together next year too. It really is true that everything happens for a reason; and I'm so glad we've crossed paths!
I made a few discoveries about myself this semester. I realized how much I love to write, and my english teacher seems to really like my papers, haha. I've been writing a lot recently and thinking of maybe taking up a double major in motion pictures with concentration in screen writing... Not completely sure if I'm gonna go through with it, but it's a thought that I'm considering. I want to leave options open for when I graduate. Casting is so competitive; I need something to fall back on just in case. Working behind this scenes could be a great experience (and a more stable/dependable income). I also declared a minor in modern languages (spanish and french); I WILL be multi-lingual! :)
I've also FINALLY begun to take voice lessons this semester. It is honestly the highlight of my week. I have so much fun singing classical (who knew?), and I love my teacher. I have been so blessed with some of the vocal coaches I've worked with in the past, but he is amazing. And he has helped me discover so many new things with my voice; it is unbelievable. He believes that I truly have a future in opera (another option to fall back on!). Every time I walk out of my lesson, I feel like running to my advisor and telling her that I want to switch my major to vocal performance, because my voice lessons go so well. But I have more freedom with just taking the lessons... I just want to improve my repertoire, skills and technique. I don't want to take music theory classes and shit like that, which vocal performance majors are required to take.
Jess came to visit me with her roommate this past weekend! She could not have come on a more GORGEOUS weekend. The weather was ABSOLUTELY perfect, and we were in South Beach the entire time, in a hotel rightttt on the beach. Now I need to get Joe and the rest of my friends who claim they are "too broke" to visit to come down... they has no idea what they're missing out on. :)
Spring break starts Friday! I'm excited to go home. I miss Cooper. And my family. And my friends. And I don't even know who's even going to be home, because I gave Facebook (my main source of communication) up for lent, hahaha. So I guess I'll find out when I get back to New York! I can't wait for the St. Patty's Day parade, and to just spend time with the people I love most. :)
