Next month is my month for our mix cd club, and I'm looking to make one with a Duets theme -- i.e., a man and a woman singing together. Ideally, I was thinking of songs like Rhett Miller's "Fireflies", where they trade off verses, but I might also used something like Butch Walker's "Song Without a Chorus", where they just both sing the whole thing. after the jump is the list I have so far -- not that I'm going to necessarily use all of them, but they're on the short list. I already decided against some others, but please throw me a comment if you have any other good ideas, or if there are other songs by some of these artists that you think are better.
Eddie from Ohio - Blue Jeans
Magnetic Fields - Yeah, Oh Yeah!
Nathan Larson - Just Because a Man Expects Me To
Old '97s - Four Leaf Clover (the Too Far to Care version)
Rhett Miller - Fireflies
The Roots - You Got Me
Shudder to Think (vocals by Low) - Just Really Wanna See You
Postal Service - District Sleeps Alone
Bootleg Remedy - After You've Gone
Rent - Light My Candle [I know it's lame. whatever.]
Decemberists - Yankee Bayonet
Paul Simon & Linda Ronstadt - Under African Skies
Mates of State - The Kissaway
Butch Walker & Pink - Song Without a Chorus
Like I said, I considered others... I couldn't find a Do You Love An Apple? where the vocal levels were balanced to my liking, and I decided against Soul Coughing's "Janine" because the Lemon Tree part is way too quiet to fit in with the other songs. But i feel like there should be good songs I'm not thinking of. And no, "Summer Nights" is not going to make the cut.
