Back in December Blas and I found ourselves visiting Sheepie Dreams in Santa Cruz. Sandra, the head shepherdess was hosting a shearing, open house and bake sale...we had lots of fun walking around the farm and meeting all the animals.
We picked out three lovely organic Wensleydale cross fleeces. Two white and one chocolate brown. About 30 lbs total of raw fleece. You can see us doing the initial sorting here...Blas was very excited to get knee deep in the fleece!
You can see more pictures of the farm day at this
LINK. It took me several weeks to get back to the fleece....during our warm trend I took advantage of it to wash most of them up!
I have dyed almost all of the white locks....and they are amazing! Staple length of about 6-9 inches, soft and so shiny!
We're planning a spinning retreat at the farm this year along with a fleece washing and spinning from the lock workshop. More information will be posted next month.
