If all goes well, I will not have to be home for the Super Bowl, it's gonna be impossible to get anywhere next weekend. I'm expecting a call this week from Measurements Inc. It's a company that grades standardized tests. The first project will be grading essays written by 7th and 8th graders from Arkansas...so, in the basic jist of things, I will be grading UWR's...if I get the job. When I went in for my interview, they had me watch a 15min video, some guy talked to me afterwards about the video, and then I had to write an essay on what is the biggest problem in education today (I had fun with that), and proof reading (and my sentence structure sucks tonight, oh-well). The only bad thing about the job is that it is in Ypsilanti, 45-60 min drive for me, but it pays 10.10 and hour. I also applied for a mail room clerk position in Southfield, which is a little closer to home.
We got our new range wednesday, and the installer came over thursday...did nothing but complain about how the range won't fit the cut out in the counter and we should go back to the store and exchange it, or just cut out the platform and get a slide in model. Dumb fat fucktard!!! I swear when he walked in the house I could smell alcohol on his breath, either that or he was REALLY suffering from the fat man sweat smell. So... after he left, dad and I did some measuring, and figured we wouldn't have to make such devastating cuts like the guy said, even though we had already paid for the installation when we bought the range. It probably took dad longer to do it himself than what it might have taken the installer, but dad took his time and cut off only what he needed... Measure twice cut once. It was about 1am when we got the thing hooked up and in the counter, but now I know how to install a range, so if some dumb sales man tries to push me to spend more money, I can tell him to EAT IT. And the second moral to the story, when you are looking at houses, DO NOT buy the ones that have remodeled kitchens where most of the appliances are built it, e.g. drop-in ranges. Might look nice, but a pain in the butt to replace.
On a happier note. My brother Alan took me to the Michigan vs. Michigan State Hockey Game at the Joe. It was a blast!! 5-5 tie!! Within the first two and a half minutes of the first period, there were easily six penalties...it was crazy. The MSU goalie was about my size, he was only about 5'6". His arm pits just passed the cross bar for the goal, but he was good. One of the most amusing things from the night was Alan giving people some of the spicey beef jerky he bought from one of the truckers that they meet up with at Morristown, TN. It was good jerky, kinda tasted like the zesty dill pickles with a hint of beef (yes, Alan did call me a dork for that). But all in all, I love hockey!
Tomorrow I have to take my sister-in-law to the neurologist to see what is going on with the headaches that she is having. Hannah is up north with Auntie Jan and won't be back until this coming Saturday, but hopefully by then I'll be spending time with Glenn and his family.
Any hoo... that was the week in review... it wasn't as fun as it sounded...
