All the money you make will never buy back your soul

Sorry for the lapse in updates, (as if anyone in cyberspace actually gave two shits about this journal) but lots has been happening here.

Summer started. I'm now a construction worker building frames for houses at $9 an hour, which I guess is pretty sweet. It seriously is though the hardest job I've ever had. All I do is lug 20ft two-by-twelves and 4' by 8' pieces of half-inch plywood around and basically get shit for everyone else (although I have used some pretty sweet nail guns and reciprocating saws, usually braving my fear of heights by having to climb on top of rickety wooden scaffolding and rafters). It's not too bad, but there are some sucky things about it; the heat, the lack of sun protection (the back of my neck got burnt to shit), redneck coworkers I have nothing in common with, etc... However, it is pretty fun working outside, and I just got a paycheck for $360 for one week's work. Pretty sweet. That's a good $60 more that I usually got paid in two weeks at Chick-fil-a, and I don't even have to deal with customers.

It kinda takes over your life though. I have no energy when I get home, so all I've been doing for a week and a half is coming home, watching movies, and nodding off at 10 pm. Some of my recent purchases:

-Sideways
-American History X
-Punch Drunk Love
-Rushmore

I'm trying to decide if the money is worth my exhaustion and almost inevitable isolation. I'm not quitting just yet, if only to prove I'm not a pussy.

On an awesome note, I just got back from seeing Built to Spill live, which was FUCKING AMAZING. Maybe the best show I've ever seen. I say that if you don't listen to BTS, you are DEFINITELY "missing the fuck out" to rip off a phrase from someone else.

Now it's time to prepare myself for the new Family Guy, excuse me...
