I found a piece of happiness on one of my internets. I call it "Cougar Dreams". This is how it goes:
The scene:
An actual fan site for the Mercury Cougar. Yes, that car. Yes, really! (geez, have a little respect..) You have to guess that these guys are a close knit band of brothers, who always have each other's backs. They all love their Cougars, and this site must give them the avenue to praise their fellow Cougarphiles on the improvements to their babies, and get similar praise in return. ("That's a spot-on looking Cougar you've got there, mate!", replied to by "I fancy that's a lot of work you've put into that beauty of a Cougar. Spot on!")
The story unfolds:
Page 1: The guy posts a 16.5 page presentation of his newly modified Cougar. He's clearly super proud of it, and has just put a lot of work into it. We later learn that he goes out to "Culvers" right after his post. I'm not even googling it- the mystery is part of the fun. But my current guess is a regional fast food establishment in his native Wisconsin area.
Page 2-3:
Immediate and unbridled mockery begins. Members condescendingly question where he is from, his age, his poverty level, his general soundness of mind. One member mocks the poster's stated expectation for "mixed reviews": "that crap is ugly, goofy, stupid, and may harm people. But....at least your set-up is 'unique'". Commenters are astounding by how quickly the deluge of criticism is appearing.
In a spark of hope, a moderator steps in asking for civility. That moderator then sees the futility of his task and backs off, tacitly conceding that the poster deserves the beating he is receiving in his absence.
Page 4:
The poster returns from "Culvers" ... You can feel the suspense that has built for him while he was away. "Oh hey guys. I'm back from Culvers! What did you think?" ...
I didn't read the other 7 pages- It can't be any better than what I have in my imagination.
