-Fri: First day of the garage sale. Arlington Park with andrea, jenna, amy, and gerry. Won $10 in lotto, won $3.20 at the track. Scheitz's house with the rest of the guys for fireworks and talks on the trampoline.
-Sat: Steph's and Jess's graduation parties with amy. Then home because I felt mighty sick.
-Sun: Amy's amazing graduation party. Dancing and partying. Chocolate fountain. Talks with many friends. Then sand volleyball and a new game "Flag" with amy, gerry, vince, alex wade, his girlfriend, and her friend. then denny's with bob for some coffee to prep me for orientation.
-Mon: Orientation bright and early with anna. I met my roommate for the night right away. we clicked instantly. Split up into small groups with people from our major. Team V. We stayed together all day, and then when we were allowed to split up, we stayed together. Then all went out to the beach to play frisbee and then walked around the neighborhood to satisfy one guy's need for a cigarette. Then we picked our hangout spot for the fall: the statue of st. ignatious (yes, its a jesuit/ christian school). Hung around, talked, got to know each other.
-Tues: Woke up in my dorm room to the sound of buses and the el going by. seems better than the cicadas and crickets out here. Breakfast with more and less of team V. (some members moved on, others we met joined in). Spent the morning together. On the walk to my advisor's meeting, I was very overwhelmed, so I called my brother and he helped me calm down and take one thing at a time. Met up with the group for lunch, exchanged phone numbers. Maybe I'll hear from them, maybe I won't. All good. Home, then straight back to chicago for the sox game with amy, gerry, and wilson. Gerry's rich cousin was there and gave him money to take us out afterwards. We went to the cheesecake factory for some dessert, then walked around the city. Wilson was my escort for the night because the city is a dangerous place. Then after a walk, we drove home.
I can't wait for next year now. It felt so comfortable. My roommate from monday night is in my little pod area in my dorm in the fall. Anyone who wants to visit is more than welcome to. I have a great schedule, not too bad, nothing too challenging. Looking forward to it.
Tomorrow brings a relaxing day at home and some much needed talks.
