Chicago for the holidays
Chicago is the only way to celebrate Christmas for John and me.
-A train ride with lots of Asian international students from Iowa, with two group leader guys who still new nothing about Chicago.
-Old Navy for more clothes to keep us warm that we lacked from living in the suburbs. Welcome to the Windy City!
-Field's to find a 4-hours-too-long wait for the Walnut Room. BUT! found a leopard print version of my favorite kind of couch. Sat, laid, took pictures on it for fun. Then found other odd, fun, different pieces of furniture.
-House of Blues restaurant for lunch. Yum. Fun.
-Kriskindlmart for ideas for presents. Lots of German people.
-The Cultural Center: the place in the city that is solely ours. In that spot, no one else stops to sit down, look at the view, and just have everything slow down. We took a quick nap, then people watched, then just sat more, moments.
-Water Tower for shopping and people watching.
-Hancock Observatory with Jamba Juice. The most beautiful way to see the city is at night with all the far-off lights twinkling and then disappearing into black. Found our second spot in the city. Could see our first spot from there.
-More walking and shopping on our way back to the train.
-The train ride home was relaxing and quiet. We got a good train car with people doing their own thing, talking on cell phones to their loved ones, doing work to finish the day before going home.
The day ended there, without exchanging gifts, but that will happen today. Thank you, John, for an amazing way to spend our Christmas day.
Winter Break quick recap:
Friday: Breakers with Becker and John, Tony V's, then watched Donnie Darko with Tony and Becker, fell in love with Tony's dog, sat in Taco Bell/drove around talking about Tony's idea for a commercial/ commentaries and just how far it's possible to take them. I haven't laughed that hard in a while.
Saturday: Had to work at Winberies, but worked with Mo. Haven't worked with Mo in 14098230 years there, hopefully my last day we'll be together again. Becker, John, and Chris came in and made working the second shift totally worth it, thank you to you guys. Then left, drove around for a while, Becker got tired so I went to Johns to sleep and watch i,Robot.
Sunday: Got sick, got better. Bummed around. Dinner at Pastabilities and then Garden State/ Napoleon Dynamite double feature. Only had to pay for one. Joined by: John, Sara, Justin, Jarrett, Chris, Bob, Micah, Sarah, Tony. Then Micah's house for quick food, and his movies.
Monday: above.
Now: It's about noon, just got up, haven't showered, eaten, anything. I love winter break. I WILL: go to cingular and beg for a new phone, bake cookies, exchange gifts with John, go to Max and Sarah Yoo's holiday party tonight.
Reminders: the 27th, my holiday party. and we MUST go to the zoo soon.
