James Bacon

I see several people are suggesting that James Bacon should have been the recipient of the recent Nobel Peace Prize, a sentiment with which I emphatically concur. James and I go back a long old time, and have been through the wars together, sometimes on the same side, sometimes on opposite sides. Our relationship has been turbulent, but it has always endured and come out stronger, and he is a good man, whose friendship I value more than he can possibly know.

If you want to support James, you might think about going along to WexWorlds in Wexford in November, which he is curating, and which promises to be an excellent show, made all the better for being nearly 100% free of charge. If you don't make it along to that, I imagine he'll be running something else somewhere else soon enough. I fully expect to see him successfully chairing a WorldCon* one of these fine days, and if you know him you probably do too.

(*Maybe then we can do the 'This is Anthrax' panel, which starts with a scientist holding up a testtube and saying, "This is Anthrax"...)
