nostalgia

I was on the road and as the miles rolled by I found myself thinking back. The good times that I have had really struck me, and I found myself longing to be there once again. It had been so long that I could no longer form an honest mental image. The senses blurred everything together and just whispers from deep inside my mind flowed just out of reach. I knew I needed to feel you again. I needed to be close enough to breath your essence, to find the meaning in you that I had lost. The miles blurred as I fixated, until I could no longer resist. Toinia looked at me hesitantly when I mentioned your name, she acted like we were strangers and my request was wholly unrealistic but she complied.

I really don't know why people like mayo on their whoppers anyhow, but Toinia seemed to think that it was a crime to remove it.

I was sorely disappointed. My fond memories of the whopper were lost in the pale light of reality. The glowing beauty that had delighted me in the past had become gray meat. The purgatory of mammal flesh is gray meat, and that is all the whopper is to me now. It may be dressed up pretty, but you can paint a nice face on anything but that doesn't add any value to the cheap lie. The flavor was strikingly familiar, the overly sweet ketchup, pickles, onions, smoke flavor, the odd essence known only to my taste buds as "whopper". But what creeped me out the most was the whopper smell. It got on my hands, and despite hand washing it remained for upwards of 12 hours. Artificial flavors and smells are now as heretical as MSG in my mind, and they disturb me to no small degree.

So I say to you, nostalgia was killed and I will eat whoppers no more.

On an additionally weird note, Doritos released a new "mystery flavor" entitled X-13D which tastes exactly like whoppers smell. I'm not kidding, they are whopper chips. A careful tongue can taste the same ketchup, pickles, onions, mayo, and a hint of beef within the yeasty bun flavor. They even smell the same.

creepy huh?
