Famous haikus have nothing to do with animu. Anyway,
From Basho, probably the most famous haiku poet. He lived during the Edo era.
The origianl Japanese runs like this:
Furu ike ya
kawazu tobikomu
mizu no oto
The translation I like the best is (as it doesn't needlessly flower the prose):
The old pond
A frog jumps in
The sound of water.
If you are interested, you should read up on haiku history, theory, and its relation to Zen. It is really quite interesting.
