(no subject)

Wow, ok so I'm pretty bored right now. Got nothing much to do and nobody seems to be around in college so I'm officially hijacking a computer and wasting some time. *turns up volume on minidisk* God I love this contraption. I can fit four whole albums onto one disk and the volume and bass control is way out of the league of meer CD Players. Two guesses as to what's playing. Yup, you got it, I'm totally predictable, but I don't care. Rammstein all the way baby. So yeah, what's been going on lately?

Well, my mother was away for a week or so last week and returned home on Thursday. She'd gone on an educational (translate: free holiday where they get to learn all about their destination) to Thailand. Nice. Very nice indeed. She was telling me all about these fantastically posh hotels she got to stay in and visit. She took pictures of pretty much everything from about six different angles so I'd have a reasonable idea of what it was like, as the chances of the Perry family ever staying in a 5* hotel are slim to nil. Looked like paradise, all of it. Really hits home as well how destructive the tsunami really was, to turn such a beautiful place into a wreck. Must have been so terrible.

However, before I get all desperately morose, I'll change the subject. My mum had a fantastic time and as a result for the past three days we've eaten pretty much nothing but thai curry. Not that I'm complaining, the thai folk really know how to do a curry. She also brought back many shiny presents, a gorgeous orange red and gold sequinned and embroidered bag, a slinky wire belt and an absolutely stunning tailored black silk dress. Don't know what kind of occasion I'd wear it out in, but it's super elegant and very oriental, which makes me feel rather demure, it must be said.

In other news, I worked on the polling station in Rotherham on Thursday for the big election. Was fun, but an incredibly long day. 6.30 in the morning until 10 at night. 15 hours would normally pass very slowly, but it was ok because I was working with two really lovely women that didn't mind my bopping about in boredom and my nearly-falling-asleep as I hit pain barrier in the 3pm-4pm slump. Also got to post my very first vote, which was highly satisfying, and due to this my naevity kind of took hold. I was completely flabberghasted at the lack of turnout for the election! Our little station didn't do so bad, out of 1700 registered voters we got about 600, so around 30-40% of voters turned out. Now I thought that was shocking, but apparently to get a third of voters showing up is a huge success. What the hell is wrong with people!? Wasting votes like that! I'm sure there would be some people out there that would rather live in a dictatorship so they wouldn't have to get off their asses for ten minutes of one day to think about what they want and vote for it. Some people that would rather it all be decided for us rather than -shock-horror- they have to think about it for themselves. Ok, so perhaps maybe not everyone knows exactly what they want, but I bet most people have a clear idea of what they don't want. Gah! Much rantiness!

What else has been happening? Hmm. Well, on the 25th of June I'm gonna go and see the 'stein playing live in Berlin!! Whooop! God, i've bored people to tears about this already, but I couldn't care less. They rock, and you know it. So yeah, the tickets came through last thursday, much shininess!!!

May continue rant later, got media now!!! woooo?!
