so, I downloaded a leak of Islands (two of the ex-members of the Unicorns's new band) new album, "Return to the Sea" and it's pretty good- like a low key and, at times, country version of the Unicorns. but one track stood out for me.

not only does it make me happy just listening to it, but I noticed that the hook during the chorus is starts and resolves the same as the hook in "We Didn't Start the Fire." it's the exact same thing. it's great. check it out.
and yeah, this was the last full weekend before I go back home for winter break. obviously, I'll touch more on it during my year in review (which I'm actually excited to write), but it's still hitting me that this semester is over. I can easily say this has been the most challenging, stressful, and just bad period in my life so far. it's a relief and a marvel that it's all over, finally. I can only see next semester being better. I can only hope, really. but that's not for me to expound upon now. in a few weeks. I have quite a bit to write.
back to this weekend. It was the first in a long while where I was geniuninely happy and stress-free the entire time. no coming back to room drunk, angry, and alone and just collapsing. both nights were spent in good company and in a substance induced haze, which made every song perfect and every moment worthwhile. I was content with doing nothing or doing everything.
exams aren't a huge problem for me, but I think I'm a lot more dedicating this year to actually studying and doing well. trying to atleast end the past few months of a good note, trying erase all the doubts I had about my grades.
