The slip of paper is under Shia's door on the second to last day of filming. He doesn't actually see it until he's getting ready to leave. He doesn't actually see it there at all. All Shia sees is Milo standing at the door, waiting for him, rubbing at his jaw and blinking rapidly as though that will wake him up.

It's a little before seven in the morning, and Milo's hair is doing strange things on his head. It looks like someone's been trying to pull it out all night long. Shia would laugh, but it's too fucking early for all that.

"I didn't look at it," Milo says, before Shia even realizes what it is.

Shia's in the middle of lighting his first cigarette of the day, and can't be interrupted lest he set his eyebrows on fire. "Only guilty people say they didn't do it," he mumbles around his first exhalation.

Milo rolls his eyes. "Shut up," he says waving the paper in exasperation. It's only when Shia steps closer and Milo stops slumping against the door that Shia sees the red ink. It's then that he knows what this is -- it's Viggo's gift. His daily prayer. Or more appropriately Simon's daily prayer.

Shia takes a long drag of his cigarette and holds it before plucking the paper from Milo's perfectly unmanicured hands.

Shia thinks 'perfectly unmanicured' because what he remembers the most about Milo from first meeting was how well put together Milo was. Milo was all style. Now Shia thinks he has more substance. More wear and tear. Maybe Shia has something to do with that, most likely though it's Noah. And Viggo. And hopefully Simon.

The broad strokes of red Sharpie jump off of the white square of paper, imprinting themselves on Shia's retina like a light bulb flash. He can't avoid it at all. He shoots Milo a dubious look. "You sure you didn't read this?"

Milo rolls his eyes. "I just said I didn't read it, don't be paranoid, that's not your role."

Shia folds up the paper, sticks it in his jacket pocket, and takes another long drag of his cigarette. "What're you staring at?" he asks Milo defensively.

Milo snorts. "You're not a morning person, are you?"

Shia ignores Milo and brushes past him to open the door. He doesn't wait for Milo to follow him, making his way on his own. When he gets to the elevator bank, he stubs out his cigarette in the ashtray and closes his eyes. He can still see the way Viggo's exposed Simon's secret in bright red Sharpie.

You love him. Everyone can see it in your eyes.

It's an RPS universe created by hackthis called 'Make Sure They See My Face'. You can find the first story in the series here!
