I am much the same way with rare indulgences, only that I have this distressing tendency to buy yarn at every opportunity and that I compulsively buy books - which is the biggest reason why I avoid bookstores, knowing my own weakness. I never used to buy clothes (and I mostly still don't), but ever since moving to Toronto, it's been kind of insane, the level of fashion everyone submits to. I blew a paycheque on updating my wardrobe, and I think I'm going to need to get a good winter jacket soon-ish.

Have you tried having an indoor herb garden? (I think they're called kitchen gardens?) Just with potted herb plants; inside, it's warm enough to keep the plants alive longer than outside, even with a hothouse. Mm.... what do you do with the cheddar? And no worries on the letter front. I am a laidback correspondent. I'm glad to hear the inlaw drama has ceased - hopefully to a happy resolution? Feel free to drop me a line whenever. My university's on strike right now, so, I have LOTS of free time.
