The Socialist Party of Michigan will be hosting a public educational forum on Karl Marx, Eugene Debs, and Socialism Today on Saturday June 17th at the main branch of the Capital Area District Library in Lansing. The event will begin at 12:00PM in Gallery C in the library basement and will feature the following:

* A screening of the video Eugene Debs and the American Movement

* A reenactment of Eugene Debs famous Canton, Ohio anti-war speech by SPMI member Tom Jacobs

* " Marxism 101" by SPMI Chair Matt Erard

* "What Kind of Party is Needed?" by SPMI member Tom Jacobs

* Discussion and Q&A

The event is entirely free although donations to the SPMI are always appreciated. We welcome anyone interested in learning about socialist theory and history to attend this event. If you missed the SPMI's six-week series on Socialism on Trial last January and February, this one-day event is a condensed second opportunity.

The main branch of the Capital Area District Library is located at 401 South Capitol Avenue Lansing, MI 48933. For a map and driving directions, visit MapQuest or Yahoo Maps
