So, it’s Friday, July 20, 2007 and at 12:00 AM when it becomes Saturday, July 21, 2007, the final
Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will hit the streets for sale and officially be able to be sold.
As of this entry, there are only 4 hours, 44 minutes left until zero hour.
When this happens, I must activate the
Cone of Silence. It’s not that I don’t want the final book now, it’s that the first edition of any given title is a hardcover and I only buy paperback if I can help it. And, paperback is released one year later. This means unless I cave-in and buy the book or by luck borrow a copy, I won’t know how the series resolves itself.
O.k., yeah I know it’s a silly quirk, but in this case it’s somewhat valid, at least the way I rationalize it to myself it is). I have the entire series in the trade size and the hardcover would disrupt the continuity.
I really only have two questions that I want answered. (1) Just what is the deal with Aunt Petunia? She clearly has more intimate knowledge of the wizarding world than she cares to admit. (2) What is the exact nature of the bargain Dumbledore has with Petunia?
