Panic

The secretary rang yesterday to tell me that there had ben a cancellation and that I could go in as a Public Patient on Thursday. I spent the night tossing and turning. I hate hospitals. I hate general anesthetic and I hate pain. Can I turn this down and say that I like living with my goitre? It and I have become good friends, so much so that it has now diffused throughout my body. I will miss it when it is gone,

So next week is looking a little on the hectic side. Bridge at Rosemary's on Monday, stay at Sue's on Monday night, Stockigt on Tuesday, the anesthetist on Wednesday and Hospital Thursday. Good thing I no longer have to work.

John bought an enormous light pole to put the wind generator on, I knew it wouldn't stay long on the roof on the bedroom. He now claims that it is important it be moved because once I stop snoring (bye, bye goitre) he will not be able to sleep because of the noise of the wind generator. I shall refrain from any remarks here out of a sense of preservation in case he ever reads this. Me snoring! Huh! Not alone in that John! I actually find the zoom, zoom, zoom of the fan/wind thingy rather reassuring in the night. It sounds like great big trucks on the highway and so far I only stayed wake the first night it was installed, after that it became like the fridge, the brain says, Yes, know that sound and ignores it.

I spent the morning catching up with my TV watching. Going to bed early and out 2 nights a week plays havoc with TV schedules. Not that there is a lot on that I like but I have become addicted to "Master Chef", particularly the Master Classes. I don't actually care who they are, but I love food and cooking, so that part is great. So "Burn Notice" back on again and 2 more episodes of "So you think you can dance.." "Fringe" and "Lie to me" appear to be closed down for the season, so I'll have to wait for them to start up again. I'm a bit annoyed about "Numbers" though, it looks like it might have to go on the list of, "down load this please John."

I liked the ballet. Nutcracker a la Graeme Murphy. Now I am sure that I have seen it done before, though it might be 20 years ago, but it was nothing like I remembered. The second act dragged a bit and the historical inaccuracies annoyed me. Why have shots of Stalin in the obviously 1917 stuff? And WW11 planes? Costumes for the Tsar's Ball were astounding, but I could have done with fewer rats, and symbolism in the Ballet is like their mime. Subtle like a brick! Ooooh starving peasants eating scraps thrown carelessly away by the rich equals communist revolution! Nicholas was ill, Eleanor kept mumbling about her dry ice and Brenda fended off the approaches of the woman next to her wearing a hearing aid. The people behind us had a relative in the young person's chorus and kept talking about it and I was tired. Typical ballet evening.

Spent two days wandering Red Hill for an espalier lime tree for Rosemary. Man never answers his mobile phone, he claims that it is because of coverage. John and I are of the opinion that he does what he wants when he wants and that doesn't always include customers. Nice life if you can get it. What! It is exactly what I am doing now. The tree looks great but the obvious wall has been nabbed by John. So I'll have to find another.

We put the sideboard out on the road on Saturday and had literally walked back inside the yard when a car stopped to check it out. I had just bet John it would be gone in about 2 hours, 2 minutes more like. So we helped them put it into the car and off they went. The bed head hasn't gone yet and it may take a while. So the front is now mowed and cleared and swept. Almost looks like some one lives here. I need to get out and tip prune the natives though so I had better get to that now.
