Yes I know, this question has probably been overused, but it's basically what this post is about. Would you rather be deaf or blind ( Read more... )

My husband is deafblind - (he is going to reply too) he can probably see better than he can hear (without the CI).

As for me, I think I would rather be blind, because I think that I could function better as blind than deaf. It would be harder to part with music than with paintings, and I guess I can't explain it. My mother is an artist and my father is a musician (both amateur, but quite masterful). So I guess that means I'd rather hear my father play piano than see my mother's paintings. I could still feel her other crafted things. It would be hard to not be able to scrapbook or create like that, but if I was blind, I know I could still read and write. But I couldn't drive... which I do love for just the pure freedom of it. I would be much more dependent if I were blind... hrm...

Hard choice - hmmm - I still think blind, but it's probably because I've always thought I COULD go blind - that it WAS a possibility. Even though I am around deaf people all the time now, I've never ever thought I could go deaf (even if it's a possibility, just by the nature of chance).

PS - I really really like that icon - you look so happy.
