Ok...so I said I'd do an update yesterday, and never got to it. Now that I'm at work, and the interface isn't working, I have some time on my hands while I try to wait out the tech problems.
It's been a month since I last updated, sure doesn't feel like it's been that long. People are NOT kidding when they say how busy a baby keeps you, and how fast time flies!
Kiernan update
Kiernan is 7 weeks today, crazy!
It's been fun watching him grow, he's now looking all over the place moving his head back and forth trying to find things and just simply looking. As you can see from the pics, he's smiling, cooing, and attempts to laugh. He has mastered his mad cry, there is no interrupting his feeding for this little guy unless you want to hear an instant, loud "WAH!" as if he's scolding you. He can hold his head up really well, whether he's on his stomach or if we're holding up so that he's standing. He loves jumping when we're holding him up. He kicks and moves his arms about when he's excited. When I'm gone, or haven't talked to him for awhile (this is true for Bryan too) and I start talking to him, he just lights up with a smile! It's nice to know that he recognizes who Bryan and I are now, and knows that we care for him, or at least he likes us the most :)
Turns out, he didn't have an eye infection, just has a clogged tear duct. The green goop is just stuff that would naturally get rinsed through the tear duct, but since it's clogged, it just gathers around his eyelids. At least it's not an infection :) He's been healthy, happy and hungry all this time. He really is just a great baby, and doesn't fuss too much. He loves listening, you can tell when he's listening to something as he'll kind of look to the side, stop moving, and just blink for a bit with a half smile on his face, or a confused look on his face depending on the sound. We're trying to help him with localizing sounds, and get him to talk more. He's just so much fun.
Emilie Update
I'm doing well. I just went to my 6 week postpartum check up on Tuesday. The incision has healed just fine, there's wonderful hard healthy scar tissue there now (..yay?). I sleep a lot though, I think more than typical new mothers would (Bryan agrees with me on this), and so we're having my iron and thyroid checked again to see if it's either one of those things. Health wise, I'm generally ok. Still having trouble with some...bathroom issues :) The only other problem I'm having right now is my tendonitis. It kills like no other right now. I've had tendonitis before, and it's usually gone within the week that the pain starts up. However, this has been going on since just a couple of weeks before Kiernan was born. I wake up in the middle of the night to the pain because my wrist popped right where the tendonitis is, and it ....just kills. Hopefully this will go away in the near future.
It's been nice to have the break from school (not work, been working since the last update :) ), and I'm not really looking forward to school starting again. However, I'll only be taking two classes, so that will be nice, and they're both night classes. Bryan and I had thought we got lucky and were going to be able to get away with not having a babysitter between our class and work schedules. Unfortunately, one of Bryan's classes switched times, so that it's now at night....the same night I have one of my classes. :( My sister-in-law has said that she will babysit those nights though, so that'll be nice, and at least it'll be with someone I know pretty well :) I just hate having to ask favors, obviously I'll be willing to return the favor or find some way to compensate for the time she takes to babysit.
I've been ok'd to start doing very very very very light exercising, which I'm excited to get back to. I'm definitely back at my pre-pregnancy weight still (I didn't gain anything at all since I lost all those pounds from pregnancy), so that's nice. I just need to eat a LOT better than I have been the last couple of weeks, and start walking and doing some very basic ab exercises to get rid of the tummy flub.
The past month, in short:
Christmas happened
Sister Hannah got married
Kiernan's baby blessing
New Years
It's been busy, fun, relaxing, and enjoyable :)
