So, the 11:th Doctor has been announced. Since it should be at least one hour or so since the announcement was made, I thought my f-list would've buzzing with reactions, but maybe I'm to be the first to make noise?
Sniffing around on the Intranets, I found out that the name of the new actor is
Matt Smith, whom I've never heard about before. He's apparently the
youngest person ever to play The Doctor, and since he's my age, I'm extremely jealous. Nobody ever asked ME to portray a British cult figure! No fair!
Anywayz... I hope the boy will do a good job. Otherwise, I suspect a whole nation of angry Brits might flog him. He's not nearly as good a piece of eye-candy as is Tennant, but he does remind me somehow of
Crispin Glover. Hot and creepy, like. I make a guess and assume that a young Doctor equals a young, female companion, although it would be interesting to see a different mix, like young Doctor, old male companion or suchlike. Could give way to a number of humorous mix-ups this season, since nobody expects the Spanish inquisition a young man to be older and wiser than his aged companion.
I will miss Tennant, truly I will. At the same time, the 10:th Doctor has been through such a lot of miserable angst lately, it almost takes a new actor to make a happy, bouncy Doctor believable again.
