Have applied to a few journalism type thingys over the last couple of days, including one which is an EXPENSES PAID course that lasts for 5 months in Newcastle learning all the stuff like publishing law, shorthand etc (I'd love to be able to do shorthand, just think of all the overheard conversations I'd be able to secretly write down!). They give you an allowance for that bit too. Then you get 30 months on one of their 80 titles - we're probably not talking a job on 'The Times' here you know, but even so... After that I'd get to call myself a Senior Journalist and have beautiful ladies of the night draping their shining naked bodies all over the pavement in front of where I walk, so that never again shall I have to endure the pain of hard concrete again.
But there's bound to be a fair few applicants to that one and I don't rate my chances too highly - I'll burst the naked ladies bubble for now.
I'm also walking a German Shepherd (as in terms of a dog, rather than a blind man from Munich) for £4 per hour. Not great but it's damned good exercise and is making me get a bit of routine back into my life after having a very random pattern for quite some time. Being unemployed is like being a student, but it's like all the shitty boring days you had as a student, where you couldn't be arsed to do anything even though there was loads to do. Or was that just me?
Have been reading a lot recently - just finished the second 'Hitch-Hiker's' book (again) and 'I, Claudius' (again), and I'm half-way through 'The Name Of The Rose' (again)... Obviously, I'm scared of the new. Actually, I think it's comfort reading to cheer me up in the evenings.
Anyhow, gotta go sort out some more job stuff and get ready to walk this dog again this afternoon - I'll tell you one thing, it's great with people but AWFUL with other dogs, so there's a lot of jerking back leads and saying 'no' in a loud 'NOOO!' kind of way. Bit of a handful. Lesser men would weep.
Cool, peace out and other out-moded hippyish sentiments, bye!
