Howl's relationships are all listed in chronological order in regards to when he met them, because it's just easier that way. The deeper the shade of blue in the second column, the closer he feels to them.

RYUK
♥ Ryuk was the first fellow patient that Howl met. 'Bob' was kind of worrying, because wow, he makes a scary looking human, but Howl slowly became very curious about him and his strange references.
Ryuk is no longer in the game.
SAKURA HARUNO
♥ Sakura gave Howl his first real description of the Institute, and made him consider that his situation wasn't as mundane as he hoped it was. He found Sakura to be a very charming and bright young lady, and he loved having some female attention. Even though she's totally jailbait. You're a terrible person, Howl.
L
♥ Howl knows him only as Ryuuzaki. He isn't entirely thrilled that L can cut through all his bullshit so easily, but I think on some level, Howl actually likes people who can see through him. Especially if they don't make a habit of calling him out on his facades in public, which L doesn't seem likely to do. He thinks Ryuuzaki is dangerously intelligent, but Howl kind of likes him.
KEMAN
♥ Howl thinks Keman is another wizard, albeit a very young one. He reminds Howl a little of Michael, and during their second meeting Keman was injured and generally had a traumatizing night, which triggered some kind of a protective instinct in Howl. It's kind of a weak, selfishly-oriented instinct, but you know how it goes.
DEAN WINCHESTER
♥ Howl's roommate. He knows him as Brian Johnson. Howl isn't sure what to think of Dean, but he makes Howl a little uncomfortable. However, so do most strangers.
