So, with car repair that may cost close to $500, the need for a swamp cooler that may cost anywhere from $300-$800, and a baby due in just 7 weeks... we need a little help ( Read more... )

Could you use a small window air conditioner instead of a swamp cooler? It would be considerably cheaper to just cool the baby's or your bedroom to start and when you can afford it, get a second one for the rest of the house.

No promises that it'll be much help because I don't get much traffic, but I'll post a link to this post on my journal.

We can't afford both, and we have to cool most of the house because I'll be home with the baby all day and we can't live 24/7 in one room. :\
We really have to have something long-term.
