More sewing!

Hooray for summer! That means time to catch up on sewing. This is cross posted from t-shirt surgery.

So, I went to the Dollar Tree today and got about 12 shirts for a dollar each. Some are big, some are small, they're all different colors, so I couldn't wait to get started on slicing and dicing them! Here's one lovely 3XL shirt I started out with.

Before:

This shirt from Forever 21 was my inspiration. I'm always looking on clothing store websites to get ideas.

And here's my attempt! I think the fabric I used was a lot heavier so it's not quite as nicely flowey and drapey.

Or I can pull the tighter band down and get this effect:

Here's a detail of the front!

Believe it or not, there was almost NO scrap fabric left from the original shirt. It's amazing how much fabric you use when you do interesting things like gathering!

I got another identical teal 3XL shirt that I think I'm going to make into a simple dress. I will be posting more!
