'The aesthetic image in the dramatic form is life purified in and reprojected from the human imagination. The mystery of aesthetic like that of material creation is accomplished. The artist, like the God of the creation, remains within or behind or beyond or above his handiwork, invisible, refined out of existence, indifferent, paring his fingernails.
-Trying to refine them also out of existence, said Lynch'
Kicking around fairfax and loving it. I've got my girl with me, nothing to do but pithy errands and reading. Job interview at Swem on Friday that needs to be scheduled, but it promises soothing and peaceful summer employment for the majority of my days. Hung out with Anna a few times, Gareth and Ryan earlier over the weekend. Watched Children of Men last night and its true, it did blow my mind. The lack of cutting and planning made it seem oddly like a 3rd person shooter video game. Definitely a powerful movie, but a downer to be sure. Good chat with Anna last night as well.
Bought glasses yesterday. Almost got cheated into spending 550 dollars on the frame+lense combo, but the girl sold me ridiculously overpriced lenses. Got 280 back when I went back 15 minutes later for durable but decidedly less 'hip' lenses. Haven't purchased glasses in maybe 6 or 7 years. The spur was that the saturday before examines I scratched my cornea and while it mostly healed with contacts I needed to give my eyes a break according to the eye doctor. Got some drops and glasses and I am a nerd for 48 hours or so.
The eye doctor I see is perhaps my favorite of the college break appointments one has. She is always pleasant and flexible despite having an incredibly busy practice. She doesn't bullshit me around and is not out to do this and that to me. The dentist, on the other hand, is the worst. Bastards are calling and calling to get me to schedule an appointment and frankly after 4 years of wisdom teeth/braces aftermath/checkups/crowning a tooth, i just want to not think about my teeth for a good while. They want to get their hands into my mouth still, tell me more things are wrong. They'll never catch me...hah! Anyway, off to walk the dog with Audrey
