(do you remember ms khoo's moralistic survey thing. like "if i can't be friends with the whole world my life is over" or something to that extent? yeah well i was thinking that i kinda felt that way most of the time.)
(Yeah, I do. But that survey was weird, because I guess a lot of people already knew what the right answers were. Well. Maybe you're just got a big heart. At least you don't hate the whole world.)
The problem with trying to be friends with everyone is that you cannot have really good (i.e. bestest of best) friends, because everyone has people who piss them off, people who irk them. So, you become the generic LJ-comforter, the person who flits everywhere and has unmeaningful conversations with everyone, and cannot take sides when two people start hating each other.
At least, that's my point of view, being an Includer. So, I guess it's inevitable that people who are on okay terms with everyone are, in reality, in good terms with no-one except people who are likewise.
(Like me; so cheer up, there're people who feel lonely too.)
Sometimes there's nothing to rely on for companionship but the self, in situations such as these - friendship too often comes with enmity.
Sorry for being such a wet blanket... but I'll be there, and so will so many other people.
it's okay! haha i do have my own cliques of good friends, and i also do have a best friend, but i really think that so long as i try, i'll be able to make friends with at least most people i encounter :)
