Actually, the more I think about the ending to Brokeback, the better it seems. Is anyone here fearful of spoilers? Maybe I should just go into it in my own LJ.
Totally worth the $10 trip to the theater, says me. But anyway, my feelings about the ending have more to do with how the last scene is presented, not a turn of the plot (a plot turn would only be revealed incidentally).
When you say your feelings about the "ending," do you mean the last moment, or the last scene? I think there were a lot of things about the last scene that were unsatisfying, and the last moment was kind of nice.

Here's what I like about the entire last scene. You see Ennis's daughter come around to tell him about her upcoming wedding, which seems sort of pointless/postscript-y at the outset. But when Ennis says his "Jack, I swear..." after she's gone, the scene beforehand compounds the impact a lot. If they were together, he would be sharing that good news with Jack, as part of his family, but instead all he has is what's there in that last little moment. So we see that life goes on, but also the tragedy of the situation. It took me awhile to realize that's what I was reacting to in that scene, which I instinctively liked but wasn't sure why.
Since we spend our money on food (and Manhattan rent) and not movies, we can only afford to see movies in the theater when the spectacle necessitates a big screen. I know, I know, all movies were meant to be viewed on a big screen...
Also, I know I will probably cry, and I would rather be at home with my box of Puffs plus.
