10 (mostly unrelated) things I hate about you.

Just kidding, I ain't mad at ya. I love you, my cool babies (said like Conan O'Brien).

*Irving lives another day. I took it to the mechanic and the problem only cost 60 bucks to fix. It's definitely for now-solution and not a forever-solution, but at least it bought me some time until Xibit gets here.

*My family came over this weekend, including all the babies, so I got to play hide and seek, hold sticky lizards, and talk about the Wiggles (Jeff, the Asian one who wears purple, is my cousin's favorite). Also, my last unmarried cousin on that side has her wedding in May. I've already been dutifully informed that the moment she says "I do," the marriage pressure will start for me. So far, it's been in this strange passive-aggressive, half-warning way, like "Watch out, soon people will start bugging you to get married!" I think if I told my grandfather that I'd rather live in sin for a long time and not spend the money on getting married, he'd be down. He's thrifty. But I'm still not going to try it.

*You're the magic that holds the sky up from the ground.

*New Beck on Tuesday! I was hoping for a party record like Midnite Vultures, but I'm adjusting to the thought of a rock album. Also, I think I want the Bloc Party cd. Is that a bad idea? Deepdiscountcd.com has it for $11, but I'll look for it in Best Buy first.

*I found out that I totally have a higher tolerance for trashy television than Jesse. Come on, Jesse, PoweRGirls? It's a show about assistants. We're assistants, too, only our bosses haven't vengefully backed their SUVs over anyone--as far as I know. I didn't hear Jesse do any complaining, though, when we watched a show where a hippo fought a crocodile. (The hippo totally won.)

*I got Shins tickets. But because of my utter lack of ticket karma, they're for Sunday instead of Saturday. D'oh! Has anyone been to Webster Hall? Is it big inside?

*This weekend, the subject came up that there might be groupies at the Ardsley graduation because Jesse McCartney is graduating. I guess I should be glad that Ardsley has a (singular) famous graduate, but, ugh, him? I'd seriously rather have an Ardsleyan as a top-ten contestant on American Idol. I still think his song, besides being grating, is really insulting. I can't imagine that a bunch of local tweenage girls fantasize about him basically saying "I like you 'cause you're not that hot." Aim higher, girls!

*Jesse and I didn't see a movie in theaters this weekend (Only Guess Who? and Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous opened, so can you blame us? How can anyone see a movie with such a horrible subtitle?), so we rented Silver City. I was disappointed. It desperately wanted to be Chinatown, but Danny Huston is no Jack Nicholson. And it seemed like the filmmakers of Silver City went about making the movie as if they thought that the scenes about the L.A. water supply were the parts of  Chinatown that everyone loves. Open letter to those guys: You're wrong. It reminded me that I like Tim Roth, though. He should be in more movies. [Edit: imdb.com says he's going to be in three this year, including A Doll's House.] This isn't to be confused with Sin City, though, which looks like it kicks ass. I'll probably see that next weekend.

*Talking about Gob and Lindsay's chicken dances on Arrested Development will never stop being funny.

*Happy Easter!
