I don't know if I'm holding out hope for an awesome late 4th of July announcement or hoping nothing good is announced so I won't feel bad about missing it?
My two summer highlights are Andrew Bird & Ra Ra Riot both free at Prospect Park. Otherwise most of the schedule is a wash for me too.
I don't mind a little summer-concert lull too much. Last year was pretty crazy with free She & Him, a good Siren, plus Titus for cheap and National and Dead Weather shows for not-cheap. Decemberists/Best Coast and free TMBG will be pretty great. Maybe that Siren substitute downtown will be worth looking into. That said

Jones Beach isn't a bad venue. If you don't sit in the highest-most section, all of the seats/views are really good for an amphitheater. It's just a hassle to get to.
But yeah, boo to us not getting double bills! I'd go to MSG for Flaming Lips/Weezer...probably. I wouldn't (and didn't) spend $60 for Weezer alone at the Williamsburg Waterfront, but that would be fair for both of them.
Radiohead shouldn't just tour here...they should tour outside of festivals. Play a full set, Radiohead!
