License Plates and Heartbreaks

I went to my car yesterday, and my driver's sideview mirror was dangling by its wires and the glass was completely gone. Somebody smashed it and kept driving. I totally did the "Good Grief" Peanuts walk. This month, my car was more expensive than Christmas. One of my co-workers said I should have an exorcism for it, since bad things keep happening. At least I didn't cry this time. Actually, the whole time I was taking my car to the garage-mirror flapping in the wind-I was listening to "The Greatest Man That Ever Lived," and it did kind of keep me from losing it. Then, when I went to pick it up from the garage, my town was in the middle of a blackout. They kinda held my car hostage and said I couldn't take it home until I suggested paying in cash. I had to get my poor mother, who had been carting my ass around all day, to drive me across town to my bank/ATM (which thankfully had power) and then back to the garage. On top of all of that, I forgot to ask the mechanic how to reattach the "H" that Rob gave me. I love my car, but I hate that I have to use it.

I was uplifted from this tragedy-fine, not really a tragedy, since a lot of people are having it worse right now-I was provided with chocolate-chip pumpkin bread (mmm, eating feelings) and It's a Wonderful Life, both provided by Nathaniel. (Sorry, Jen.) I thought I'd seen most of the movie already, but I'm pretty sure now that I've been watching the final third over and over. Also, I remember seeing stick-figure reenactments of it on MTV. A quick Google search tells me this happened on Liquid Television, though all of the video clips have been taken down by Viacom. Liquid Television was the best. I wish MTV were still that cool.

You know who else is suffering from heartbreak right now? Kanye West. For some reason, I am entranced by "Love Lockdown." It's like "Yellow" by Coldplay, in that it's boring but I can't turn away. On SNL you could tell that he couldn't really sing behind the auto-tune, but that didn't make it bad. Also, I really like when the drums kick in during the chorus. (Obviously, I mean, I bet everybody does.) I can see this becoming a problem, especially because I just asked Michelle for the Patrick Stump version.
