Been here a month solid, and there's hardly anything to show for it.
Nothing's changed, it's all just reverted back to the same bloody routine. All this waiting and stalling and not doing much of anything and being played like a puppet on both sides, if there are even any sides! More like everyone's out to gain a foothold on every other poor bugger.
And for what? For a few months of control before they eventually leave to go back where they came from? Why should that matter? Why is it so damned important for people to be on top of everyone else, to manipulate others and scramble to reach the top, if all they know is that they're going to lose it after a few short months?
Are people that damned power hungry?
This isn't how you used to do things. Skulking around like some damned spy, saying one thing and meaning another...All right, well you did, but that was in the name of diplomacy. People expected you to be distrustworthy because you were a copper. Here, there's no way to tell except "I've got a funny feeling about you, buddy", and that won't hold water.
What's to be done about Light. The Major. Ryuzaki. All the rest of us in between? When does the curtain fall and the acrobats lose their balance and slip? Do the rest of us just keep on with the show and pay no attention?
When the hell did life lose its worth?

Are you watching him? There's something I can't quite put my thumb on about this one. He's a murderer, I know that much, but it's hard to say whether he's murdered in his world or this one.
I suspect he might be our man. Call it a hunch; I don't know enough yet for certain, but he's setting off all the suspicious bastard alarm bells. He couldn't tell me his name either; not wouldn't, couldn't.
