I randomly looked at my "fandom" tag and saw that Maki Murakami is STILL updating Gravitation. The flashbacks to 2004 were violent. The Gravitation fandom did a lot for me, and I still love that terrible story.
Anway, I went to Franklin to sneak into the IT department and get them to look at my computer.
About two years ago I got a virus on my unprotected desktop. I system-restarted and everything works except the Internet. As in, the software that would allow the computer to find the Internet isn't on there anymore. There's no way to get it without buying the OS, and I may as well buy a new computer.
So, he installed Linux, because it's free and user-friendly. I rather like it. Linux looks like Apple to me. Apparently they're both based on the same programming, but Apple really doesn't like Linux. I digress.
My desktop is refurbished and didn't come with a wireless card, so I had to buy a wireless converter, which always worked until I had to wipe the hard drive. The adapter doesn't work with Linux. Carlos worked on it for two-and-a-half hours and couldn't figure out how to get Linux to run.
He wants me to use an Ethernet cord, but that would involve running one from a completely different room and I really don't want to hassle with it. We got wireless for the whole house for a reason.
So I left my desktop at the school and Carlos said he'd call me later. I'll probably have to go to Best Buy and ask the Geek Squad what adapter will run with Linux. I'm wondering if I could get my nerd friend to install a wireless card for me to save me the trouble of having an adapter instead of a computer that just has a damn card.
Anyway, I feel bad for making Carlos work so long on my desktop (And I don't even go to the school anymore. I paid $250,000 and barely harassed the IT Department, fuck them I'll get my computer worked on). He jokingly said I owe him 200 pizzas for the trouble. I was like, "What's your favorite pizza?"
I think I upset him a little trying to offer him something for his trouble. I'm going to get him a couple of free pizza coupons anyway. It won't cost ME anything.
I'm still tired and frustrated but today was an alright day. I actually meant to spend the evening with Mom but it got eaten up by trying fix my desktop. I DID stop by Blue Turtle and got us Chinese (Broccoli chicken, crab Rangoon, steamed rice, sweet and sour chicken). I ate with her and that was nice. She was surprised I thought of her.
I'm immersing myself in new-to-me music. It's about the only thing right now that's taking my mind off of everything. Out of everything I absolutely adore Matthieu Chedid, and ... Billy Idol.
I don't even know.
Look at that boy. Look at him. He's adorable.
Also I like Jaques Brel ironically. He doesn't really do my kind of music, but he sounds so French (I KNOW Pasqui) I just listen to him and laugh and appreciate his lovely, lovely voice.
I'm trying to get into dubstep but it's also just not my thing. I love the fans. More than slightly irritated at the music. WOB WOB WOB WOB WOB WOB WOB indeed. The Daft Punk Tron OST is AMAZING though.
On my way home I stopped by Starbucks and got a peppermint mocha, and a peanut butter cupcake.
Starbucks is selling macaroons but calling them "Whoopie Pies".
MACAROONS SOUND MUCH MORE APPETIZING I'M JUST SAYING.
