Jan 02, 2008 14:45

So here's my book list. Only 39 this year, unlike my 45 last year. ):

My book resolutions are : Read Gravity's Rainbow and write about Reader's Block

(also: screw those lj cuts!)

1. Virtual Light - William Gibson
2. Five Quarters of the Orange - Joanne Harris
3. Springer's Progress - David Markson
4. The Little Endless Storybook - Jill ( Read more... )

Nice list. What did you think of The Reluctant Fundamentalist? I recently read it for a class, and my feelings about it were mixed at best.

i wrote a review of it for hbc.com. although i wasn't as harsh as i could have been. i was actually disappointed in it. I felt like it could have been a great book but i felt it was off track in places.

and thanks. (:

I was disappointed with it as well--I wanted it to be a much subtler book than it actually was. My very brief review of it can be found in this post.

yes. it was a little too blunt for my tastes. (i didn't know it was shortlisted for the booker...) but it was kinda refreshing to see a different view of the sept. 11 attacks.

i still don't know how i feel about the first person narrative though. yeah, it worked... but at the same time it just didn't.

*Four* Markson books? I'm more behind than I knew. Though I did read Wittgenstein's Mistress along with Consciousness Explained and Breaking the Spell this year.

I look forward to your Reader's Block thoughts.

My year in books SUCKS this year. (as far as quantity...)

Re-read: Black Like Me, John Howard Griffin

Completed: Diary, Palahnuik

Unfinished: Naked, Sedaris

I'm 98% that's it. Pathetic!

Oh. Okay. Good. I get really busy with classes and neglect booksalon, so I didn't want to insult you ;p

Thanks for your thoughts on it... I don't like books that have rushed endings. And since I am stalking your list, you can stalk mine. I unlocked it just for you, lol. (I assume since I am nosey, everyone else is too.)
