1) "U.N. Committee on Peaceful Uses of Outer Space"
The sound of this made me conjure up all sorts of images and ideas... I wonder what other sorts of U.N. Committees there are?
2) "NASA says the precise effect of a 460-foot object hitting the Earth would depend on what the asteroid was made of and the angle of impact."
Way to avoid a terribly uncomfortable subject, you NASA spokesperson, you.
3) Fine, I'll be more direct in my quotations: "Astronomers are monitoring an asteroid named Apophis, which has a 1 in 45,000 chance of striking Earth on April 13, 2036."
Hmmm, 50's huh? I suppose that's a ripe age to deal with crap like that, eh? Well, so many years and the Earth has had the chance of being a target and yet it hasn't happened... At least since the dinosaurs, or since humans evolved, or you know, whatever.
