The cataclysm makes me happy! Here's the reasoning I have for it:
This is a land of strife and warfare. It's supposed to be dark and dangerous. For too many years (and I'm including Blood elves and Dran for the most part...) it's become cartoony and silly. Oh, the Napolean Dynamite dance in org naked, whooooooo. Gag me. Now we have a crisis on our hands that doesn't involve flying around in a Giger nightmare or hunting down some deep throated uber-villan who has Daddy issues and "broods" (read: pouts) in his icebox.
This will force characters to ruminate (those of us that have been in a while, anyhow) on the changes to beloved things. Imaging having a backstory that started in Astranaar or Auberdine when the character returns and finds that they have no home....
Fir is up for it. He's glad the Forsaken are on the march again. Southshore is OURS, finally. Tarren Mill won the long fight. Gilneas is the next step in the evolution of the plauge (and Fir gets to kick Fruitcake in the nuts again, YAY)
I look forward to the darker game experience. Let's get it ON!
Hilly, by the by, will not like the changes either, but as long as they have booze and babes, he'll live. ;-P
