I discovered I can't do the (other) meme version of this because it freaks me out ("best story" alone breaks my brain. There may be superstition involved), but I want to point at my fic and beam proudly anyway. So I will.
August: My first story was
Mr. Godkingofsex for
getfraserlaid, and it's still one of my favorite things I've done. The whole experience was newnewnew, as I was figuring out posting and cut-tags and everything at the same time I was putting out a nice little romantic fisting story for a community I'd never participated in before. Everybody was kind and welcoming and I was high as a kite with my success. I wanted more.
So I wrote something else for
getfraserlaid,
Special Fucking Friends. And I discovered that not every writing experience is fun and easy and whee! The story just irritates me, but I still love the premise and the scene with Hugh and Ray. In retrospect, attempting RPS/dS Fraser/Hugh was perhaps just a tad ambitious.
The first fic I started was a pre-Mr. Godkingofsex attempt at the fisting prompt, which I eventually finished and posted without a title (but which I think of as
The Ray Buffet). It's the worst thing I've done, but I'm still rather fond of both it and the stray scene I wrote
here.
September:
Now I've just come ashore was a very different bit of writing, short on length and dialogue, long on porny, cozy domesticity. Think the sex reads awkwardly but overall still pleased with it.
Soon after, I discovered what excellent therapy writing could be when in a shitty mood.
Give Me Something was my first bad mood porn, a little rocky but tremendously therapeutic.
Branching out, I wrote a tiny HCL ficlet, which I later named
Pissed.
October: My first
ds_flashfiction story,
Mixing.
(By now I was already having the time of my life plotting and writing the Turnbull/Kowalski mpreg epic with
lipstickcat)
Another bad mood brought
Bring Me Something, Part 2. Yeah, titles are not a strength.
Comment fic! Fun stuff. Kid!fic commentfic with
omphale23, with the awesomely awkward name
Ray and Sunshine sounds like a disco band, Fraser, so come up with something else, soon followed by a porny sequel,
Sex and Cartoons.
November:
omphale23 pimped
inuvikdotcom and the prompt, so I had no choice but to write
Decorum.
Finally, with great glee,
lipstickcat and I post
The One Where Turnbull Gets Knocked Up, a K/T mpreg project, consisting of 11 fics and 1 manip, with the possibility of more in the future. I had a lot of fun with this, both chattering about it with lipstickcat, and using it as an opportunity to try different voices and tenses.
December: With a big project recently posted and others being written, I ficletted:
A bath kind of guy; a little more
K/T mpreg; my first femslash, a little bitty thing called
A perfect arrangement; and, for my last ficlet of the year, a little something about
Ray and his thinking/feeling/wanting cock.
I'm pretty damn proud of myself.
Total? Fuck if I know. Something like 15, counting co-writing projects and not counting ds_seekritsanta or each fic that makes up the mpreg project. Little things may have fallen off the list, but you get the drift. Lots of F/K and a goodly amount of porn.
I'm quite addicted. Fandom is a fabulous thing. My very favorite experiences were/are writing fic that another person is also writing. (Sometimes called co-writing, but not by
omphale23.) The projects I worked on/am working on with omphale and
lipstickcat rock my world, as does the chance to debate dialogue, characterization, plot, etc. during writing.
Next year I want to post a project of great joy I'm working on with omphale, try my hand at Ray/Ray (a pairing I adore but fear writing), and generally get better at this writing stuff.
