just an fyi if you ever transfer to the light rail you need a separate kind of transfer. the bus drive can put a bus transfer and a light rail transfer on the same slip of paper but you have to specifically request it. i didn't know this when i first started riding. i almost always have to pay 2.00 but if you buy a pass you get 2.00 free for some reason!

it didn't always used to be that way... you used to only be able to use transfers one way...

I remember when the bus was red, took only change, the transfers were thin as newspaper and the driver had to punch them...

but it only cost 10 cents to ride - seeing as I was a child.

it's interesting to hear it from another perspective. I ride the bus pretty infrequently, and it always pisses me off that I have to pay so much! But I am usually riding only on one or two buses, and then the same ones back after like 8 hours or something so I have to pay the expensive full fare again.

One nice thing about the light rail that I love is that if you are starting there and buying a ticket there, those machines take credit cards, all kinds of bills and make change! Woo hoo!

The one thing that is really lacking here is that we need a cheaper unlimited pass like in Boston. In fact, i don't think we even have an unlimited pass, or it is really damn expensive if it there is, the last time that I looked.

well, i paid $31 every month for the unlimited bus pass in boston. but that's just it...it's only for the bus. here (correct me if i'm wrong), it's $50, but that lets you on all the buses AND lightrail. i'd gladly pay the extra $19 for me to be able to take the lightrail whenever i want to along with whatever buses i want, too.

i don't know if the TC's have a daily unlimited or weekly unlimited...do they?
