In Memory of Richie Maggs, Age 19, Died on June 9, 2005
Though now you're departed you'll live in my memory
Wish to have you back in this world, but it could never be
You were taken away too soon it may seem
Nineteen years young, you were living the dream
Hit rough spots now and tehn over the years
But you got through it all, diminished the fears
We were the Pirates force, an unstoppable duo
The pitcher-catcher bond is never broken you know
One of the few, it was you who welcomed me in
Freshman year took me with a shake and a grin
It was Justin, Breno, Mat, Sean, Joe, me, and you
That was our clique, that was our crew
I "rolled with the crew", built up my confidence
Shaped who I am, and I know that I'm better since
You were all older, but didn't seem to care
Took me under your wing, that feeling was rare
Total strangers taking you in as one of their own
I was childish, nieve, but because of you I've grown
You'll live on in my heart, live on in my mind
Live on with each word that I write in this rhyme
Left behind lessons, all of which I regret
Never drink, don't do drugs, I'll never forget
I thank you, you've made me a greater person I feel
You were down to earth, took time to show me what's real
We didn't hang out much, but you were close like a brother
I could talk about anything, there could be no other
Hit me like a bullet when I looked at the screen
Reading "Richard Maggs Dead at the Age of Nineteen."
I told you constantly to stop your bad habits
Your drinking, your drugs, and your "screwing like rabbits."
Thank you, one of the greatest there could have been
But you're better off with God than a bottle of gin
I know you'll watch over your mother and niece
Fly high with the eagles now, may you rest in peace
Rest in Peace Richie...you took me in when I was an outcast at high school, i had very few people who would even talk to me...you and Justin changed all that...the "popular upperclassmen" always being with me, gave me the boost of confidence I needed to branch out n become a better person...you will live on in all the hearts and minds of those who knew you...you will be missed, but never forgotten...
R.I.P. Richie
