Nick vs Nick?
So many jokes. A day dedicated to love in all its forms with the same initials as venereal desease. Plus you add my cynicism to it all and mix well, this could be the defining Valentine's post for a long time.
Then there's the hopeless romantic-meets-artist side of me. I write songs cornier than this day could ever be. I fall in love as easily as a soft wind makes the leaves tremble, and hold on with the horrific desperation of a crack head to his pipe.
So where do I go with this? I'm not in the depths of despair and not feeling too too nihilistic today. On the other hand, the sun hasn't set yet and my good buddy Jack Daniels and I are already getting started on our evening talk.
Maybe I'll let it go this once. One holiday I'm not going to find anything wrong with. A testament to my faith in love in all its forms, as shaky as it may be for the moment. A peace offering to my sweetheart, Fate. A day I'm not going to meddle with and try to make miserable for all who like it.
