another meddlesom update

I'm having trouble motivating myself to study for the next pchem exam, especially since I did well enough on the last exams I've taken (granted, I did study my ass off for those).

I finished playing Myst V: End of Ages. It definetly wraps up the Myst series. Not in a "OMG(!)" kind of way like Neo fighting agent Smith at the end of the first Matrix, but in a "Oh..." kind of way, like Frodo sailing off with the elves at the end of Return of the King. On a happy note, I can confirm that the ages in this Myst, the thrid one from Cyan and (likely) the last game Cyan ever makes, live up to the feel and appeal of their previous games: myst and riven. I do feel like the graphics took a step back, character-wise. Some of the textures could have been higher res too. I guess nothing will ever supercede Riven (sigh).

Finally, the new iPod is one of those modern marvels of technology that make you look at the gadgets you already have and say "well these are all crap now." I'm still happy with my bulky, monocrhome, less-than-a-year old 40GB iPod 4th gen. It's still a beautiful and functional mp3 player. But when the day comes that it dies, I'll be happy to replace it with its new sib, even if I have to sell my sperm every day for a year to afford it.

I think I'll be more likely to "accidentally" drop my old iPod now. Selling sperm every day for a year sounds enticing.

And this, my friends, has been your nerd minute.

PS: I can't convince myself to buy the first two episodes of Lost to check them out on iTunes, nor do I want to buy the entire season when I don't even know how the format will look on my computer screen. The DVDs are expensive too, so I decided to download them [in progress]. I'll let you know what I think of the series in a year, when the download finishes. Maybe I'll just buy the first freakin episodes and see what I think.)
